Secondment Stories

Meng Hout’s Secondment Story

The secondment was a great development for me in both career prospect and for my personal growth.

Everything started when I grabbed this chance without further ado, immediately after Baker Tilly Cambodia open its secondment opportunity. This turned out to be one of the most exciting experience in my career.

It was such a great pleasure for me to be seconded for a period of six months to Baker Tilly Malaysia. This is definitely an unparalleled learning curve for me.

I was given the opportunity to be involved in the audit of both listed entities and SMEs from various industries during my secondment in Baker Tilly Malaysia. This has broadened both my auditing skills and industry knowledge, especially when Baker Tilly Malaysia is the largest concentration of MIA membership.

This opportunity has also sharpened my soft skills, by exposing myself to new challenges, such as dealing with new clients, working with new teams and also meeting the very tough timelines, in a totally new environment, in terms of culture. This has in turn, increased my level of confidence and I believed I can bring these valuable experiences to my colleagues in Baker Tilly Cambodia.

The best part of being seconded to Baker Tilly Malaysia is that I get to meet more new friends and colleagues in Malaysia, especially when Malaysia is a multiracial country, an eye-opening experience to the multiracial cultures, and not to mention the variety of foods from this multiracial country. This has reinforced both my networking and our international connection between Baker Tilly Cambodia and Baker Tilly Malaysia.
